The human body is an incredibly complex machine. Everything you do, is bound to affect something else – in a positive or a negative way. If you attempt to lose weight without acknowledging this, you might not lose weight at all, or you might just pick it up again afterwards.

How your diet is composed does not only affect your metabolism – it affects a host of bodily functions. Fair enough, when yu need to shed unwanted pounds or kilograms, you do need to shift the balance in your metabolism – but you have to try and do it without upsetting your whole physiology or body chemistry.

While many people will tell you to simply eat less, the answer is slightly more complex than that. While you will find stacks of “miracle” (fad) diet products out there, the reality of the human system cannot be changed. As such, the only solution is to arm yourself with the basic knowledge required to discern fact from fiction.

If not, you will never even know what you are doing to your body – regardless of whether you are able to achieve any weight loss or not.
